Una short presentation

Some believe that the inhabitants residing in Puerto Peñasco is a
recent event, yet this region has been populated for thousands of
years ago by the indigenous Malpaís, Sandieguito, Amargoza and
Cia-had O’odham, and more recently,  from the earliest 1800 until
1910 by Spaniards, Mexicans, North Americans and British who
worked the legendary gold mine of La Sierra Pinta.
But it was until 1928 when the modern day residents stayed for
good in the fishing village known as Rocky Point.
Documents show that as early as 1922 recreational fisherman from
Arizona visited thos area known for its abundance of fish and sea
life.
At the end of 1940 and the beginning of 1950, modern Pullman
trains with luxurious staterooms pulled into the old port, carrying
passengers from California, recreational fishing enthusiasts who
stayed in the three hotels of this town: Hotel Cortez, Hotel Mexico
and Hotel Peñasco.
Through this publication we will learn about the most important
moments of this port, from its inception up to now, as well as the
most significant changes.
There are tremendous changes in store, including the scenic
coastal highway that will bring us closer to the states of Baja and
Upper California in the summer of 2008, an airport with commercial
flights for 2009, and a desalination water plant within the next four or
five years.
Enjoy the publication.
